Disney Store - Post & Powell San Francisco

We took a trip to the City and decided to stop at the Disney Store in Union Square. It sure wasn't what it used to be. When I worked there (1995-2000) it was such a magical place but now it is just another Disney Store. There is no site specific items such as a San Francisco Mickey T-shirt or keychain..nothing. I guess since The Children's Place took over running the Disney Stores it is just another retail establishment to them. I should have taken more pictures of the crapy looking store but I was in shock at how regular it had become. It almost looked like the Disney Store had left the building but left all of their fixtures and decorations and some other store moved in and placed their product on the shelves.

  • There were tons of burnt out light bulbs and back of the store looked so dark.
  • The kalidascope in the back was not on so I assume it was broken
  • The Gallery is gone and replaced by adult clothing and it was a mess
  • The plush area is now full of toys
  • The pink cake in the ballroom is nasty looking, dirty and pieces busted
I was so sad to see what it had become. Gone are the days of hearing cast members sing songs and dance around along with the video screen, no more seeing beautiful art work displayed in the Gallery and no more sense of 'family' feeling left there. As I walked around it was like I could see in my mind images of what used to be there and what it felt like to be there years ago.
